LOCAL MUSICIANS EARNED PRAISE FOR 2004 ALBUM OF ORIGINAL MATERIAL
Combine two Wauwatosa high school teachers, a Brookfield financial advisor and a Wauwatosa business manager, and the result is rock band Crazy Man's Basement. Crazy Man's Basement recently released an 11-song all original CD called "There and Back". Immediately prior to the CD's release, the band was nominated for New Artist/Group of the Year in a local music industry competition (WAMI). Crazy Man's Basement will perform at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, on the Harwood Stage at TosaFest. The members, who insist on keeping the origin of the band's name a mystery, are:
DRUMMER - MARK KINDLER is a financial advisor with Robert W. Baird & Co. and lives in Brookfield with his wife and two sons.
LEAD VOCALIST - TOM KLUBERTANZ, a theater and speech teacher at Wauwatosa West High School, lives in Oconomowoc with his wife, who is expecting their first child.
GUITARIST AND BACKING VOCALIST - ANDY ZIETLOW teaches history at Wauwatosa West High School and has also coached basketball and track in recent years. He lives in Hartland with his wife and two daughters.
BASSIST - BOB HEDGCOCK lives in Oconomowoc and works in Wauwatosa as a manager for Point One Systems.
Crazy Man's Basement began as an acoustic duo, with Klubertanz on vocals and Zietlow on guitar. The two are brothers-in-law. With the addition of Kindler and Hedgcock, Crazy Man's Basement is now playing most of the major clubs and festivals throughout southeastern Wisconsin.
